About Us
Sandalwood Oil & Gas, Inc. ("Sandalwood") was incorporated in 1985 by John F. Ligon and James A. Cisarik. Since its inception, Sandalwood has focused on prospect generation, exploration, development and production of natural gas and crude oil, concentrating its efforts in Texas and Louisiana and has participated in and/or caused over 300 wells to be drilled. Historically, Sandalwood has directed lease acquisition on its projects and has operated more than 50% of the wells in which it has participated. As the company has grown it has participated in an increasing number of "outside" prospects generated by other companies in order to spread risk and maximize the number of wells drilled. Sandalwood has established a strong track record of business relationships with its working interest partners and vendors.

Sandalwood's focus from 1985 - 2000 was in the lower risk development of oil and gas reserves located primarily along the Gulf Coast of Texas. In 2001, the company expanded its prospect portfolio to include higher potential deep gas prospects along the coast of Louisiana, both onshore and offshore. Beginning in 2008, Sandalwood shifted its focus back to onshore, coastal Texas with a heavy emphasis on oil. The company currently is active in Texas.

Prospects are formulated through the use of 3-D & 2-D seismic data, well control and other geological means. Sandalwood utilizes state-of-the-art workstations in combination with geophysical, geological and engineering data in combination with the latest software for prospect delineation, high-grading and subsequent drilling. Despite modern technology's great benefits, we believe people are still the most important part in the effort to search and find oil and gas. Therefore, we endeavor to hire, motivate and retain the best possible staff. In summary, we strive to timely generate prospects, prudently acquire the necessary acreage and focus on being an efficient operator in order to generate the most profitable returns to Sandalwood and its working interest partners.

Sandalwood's corporate structure is based on Sandalwood Oil & Gas, L.P. as a 99% Limited Partner, and Sandalwood Energy, L.L.C. as General Partner. Additional entities are Sandalwood Exploration, L.P. for drilling operations, and Covenant Oil & Gas, L.P. for production.
